Beni Rugs X Studio KO

This photographic series documents Beni Rugs’ immersive installation presented during Milan Design Week in the historic 5Vie district, created to introduce the brand’s Intersection collection in collaboration with Studio KO. Set inside a former textile shop, the installation transformed architecture into a living archive of design and memory.

Thousands of paper sheets covered walls, corridors and thresholds, forming a spatial metaphor for the creative process behind each rug. Every sheet represented a thought, a calculation or a trace of intention before becoming wool and weave. Suspended papers created grids and passages that echoed the geometric language of the rugs, while natural light filtered through industrial windows, activating both paper and textile surfaces.

Within this environment, Beni Rugs appeared as the final translation of accumulated ideas where abstract systems become tactile form. The installation proposed weaving as a narrative act, connecting Moroccan handcraft traditions with contemporary architectural composition. Rather than presenting rugs as isolated objects, the space framed them as records of human rhythm, repetition and labor.
