Saint Laurent × Charlotte Perriand
During Milan Design Week 2025, Saint Laurent presented a curated installation dedicated to the archival furniture of Charlotte Perriand, reintroducing historic designs within a contemporary architectural setting. The exhibition brought together a selection of furniture conceived between the 1940s and 1960s, many of which existed only as prototypes or drawings before being produced at full scale.
Set inside an industrial space in Milan, the installation was defined by curved woven wooden walls that shaped the visitor’s movement while filtering light across the objects. The architectural structure acted as both enclosure and backdrop, emphasizing materiality, craftsmanship, and spatial rhythm.
Perriand’s furniture — including shelving systems, seating, and tables was presented with restraint, allowing form, proportion, and texture to remain central. Rather than a retrospective display, the installation functioned as a dialogue between design heritage and contemporary presentation, highlighting the enduring relevance of Perriand’s modernist vision through Saint Laurent’s curatorial lens.
